Our second coffee in the Lucky Collection: a washed Typica decaf from Nogales' Nispero lot in Huila, Colombia, made to show that decaf doesn't have to be boring. A bright hit of lime and Jolly Rancher up front, melting into ginger spice, with the sweetness lingering the whole way through.

Nogales has been growing coffee in Colombia since 1952, and along the way they've built their own microbiology lab, taken control of fermentation, and installed a dry mill on site so every step happens by their own hands. That drive to push past what a coffee farm is expected to be is exactly how this Typica ended up on our cupping table.

Typica is known for sweetness and bright acidity, and it's rarely attempted as a decaf, since so much character usually gets lost in the process. Nogales decaffeinates 100% on site, an approach that's already earned them a US Brewers Cup win, and this lot proves what that control makes possible. Sweet, bright, and just as full bodied as its caffeinated counterpart, it's the coffee we point to when someone tells us decaf is boring.

Grown at Nogales' Nispero lot alongside Yellow Bourbon and Geisha, all three planted there for the cooler temperatures at elevation, this Typica goes through a 7 step process on the farm, ending in decaffeination, without ever leaving Nogales' hands
